Down the Tubes

I have just been reading this fascinating article on Tube stations here in London, then and now. Several stations are mentioned, with special slider galleries showing the station’s entrance in the past and how they look now, side-by-side. The article by TimeOut can be seen here. For those of you curious about which is my nearest Tube station, it would be Plaistow, with Canning Town being second closest.

Euston Square

A GIF that reminds me of one of my favourite stations to and from work, Euston Square, near two other stations. Its a often frenetic mess of passengers and trains from three different Tube lines all competing for space and coming in and out in rapid succession. However, if you really want to see busy, try Vcitoria or Liverpool Street stations.

London Tube strikes for August called off

Just had some good news this evening. The tube train strikes called by the unions for most of this week have been postponed, although new potential strike action has been called for early September. Nevertheless I am very relieved. Happy, happy, joy, joy!!

I managed to plan THREE alternative routes with the help of the TfL Journey Planner to get into work, but for now I can breathe easy, unlike the poor commuters in the District Line train above.
