Entrance Street

I had some fun this weekend, creating street signs using various websites. Most of the street signage is US-style, but a large number are British with a little European thrown in for good measure. Now you know what sort of things are down my street.

The design monkey

This evening I’ve been letting my ‘design monkey’ run loose, picking great design and social media ideas off of the branches of creativity to produce award-winning posts for the consultancy I work with. I also shared a really cool graphic made with love by my niece as a WhatsApp status.

#30YearsofGIFs – 5

Different versions of the ‘Under Construction’ GIF, such as the one featured above were popular on the early Net. For home-based website creators especially, these GIFs were a way of showing they were hard at work building their sites, just like at a construction site. Many of the GIFs were based off of US road signage. Sadly, after the demise of Web 1.0 in the first few years of the 21st century, the under construction GIFs that frequented the likes of Geocities went the way of the floppy disk, surviving now in only legacy sites and GIF collections.

Warning: Computer rage infection zone

The ideal warning sign for IT portals and admin sites everywhere. Pacify your programmers (coffee and donuts always work), then you don’t have to worry about disgruntled IT staff mocking you when your PC misbehaves again.
