The Hongyagu glass bridge

 

This shiny, see-through attraction in China is famed for bringing out the fear in its visitors. If a drop of several hundred metres with nothing but glass between your feet and a nasty ending isn’t bad enough, the glass allegedly does an illusion of suddenly cracking when you step on it. Do I smell shepherd’s pie, or should I say, runny digested noodles? Yikes!!

After a long day on the private equity treadmill and a short evening downing uncountable measures of cognac, 58-year-old businessman Hywel finds the stairs outside West Malling rail station a tad confusing. Witness a fall down the flights that’s a great deal of amusement for the observer and a great deal of pain for poor old Hywel. Let’s hope he made it in one piece home to the long-suffering missus.

This train is delayed due to idiots on the track

 

In 2013, 345 people in Britain were killed by trains after getting onto the track. Not all of them were idiots of course. But there are some truly ‘dense’ people out there.

Down the Tubes

 

I have just been reading this fascinating article on Tube stations here in London, then and now. Several stations are mentioned, with special slider galleries showing the station’s entrance in the past and how they look now, side-by-side. The article by TimeOut can be seen here. For those of you curious about which is my nearest Tube station, it would be Plaistow, with Canning Town being second closest.
