Remembrance Sunday 1918-2018

They shall grow not old
as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning,
We shall remember them.

Autumn’s river

The tranquil river gently ushers past.

Trees in hues of red, gold and fire.

Autumn is stopping over.

Its copper colours a feast to admire.

Hallowe’en 2015 – 2

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg and howlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon’s blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.
 – Macbeth, William Shakespeare

The never-ending field

Running, charging, through this heather-clad field.

I can’t seem to find a way out.

That nature’s beauty keeps my lips sealed.

But the silence of perpetuity I can never doubt.

Everything going forward is the same.

Sameness perhaps is what life and fields are only ever about.
