Lovable Pikachu, the yellow star of the anime series Pokémon, first made his appearance in 1996 in a Nintendo Game Boy game and arrived on TV a year later. A generation of people made Pokemon GIFs to put on their sites and really show they caught them all!. Unlike many things from the heyday of GIFs, Pokémon are still going strong, as last year’s Pokémon Go craze can attest.

Pokemon Go

 

Pokémon Go, the latest iteration of the popular Pokémon games by Nintendo, has taken the world by storm. It has just been launched in the UK, and sees players use augmented reality to go out and about and catch Pikachus, Jigglypuffs and the like in actual places.

In 2008, Nintendo launched a version of the DS games console that could print American dollars. However the Federal Reserve made sure the prototype never saw the light of day. Gotta protect the money monopoly (not Monopoly money) nahmean!
