Vijay’s classic GIFs 2007-2011 – 415

A GIF made to celebrate the Indian team’s win at the Cricket World Cup of 2011. India won the tournament, defeating Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the final at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, thus becoming the first country to win the Cricket World Cup final on home soil. India’s Yuvraj Singh was declared the man of the tournament. This GIF plays on the still-popular ‘Deal With It/Thug Life’ meme.

Mumbai fog

For my trip abroad tomorrow, the first part of India I’ll make contact with is (wait for it…) Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (IATA: BOM, ICAO: VABB), also known by its previous nick of Sahar Int’l Airport. This airport serves the hectic metropolis of Mumbai. I’ll be staying at a country house near Nallasopara, a surburban town outside the city. To give you a flavour of what Mumbai is like, I present to you this foggy GIFwork by Aaron Lopez.

Vijay’s classic GIFs 2007-2011 – 180

A scene from the 1988 film Salaam Bombay! where a little street kid (I think he was nicknamed Insect) does a little dance in his cinema seat only to be backhanded by the man behind him. This film was great in so many ways, even if some ways the plot was a little saddening and poignant.
