That’s a long way down in Shaanxi

If you’re an adventurous tourist with a very good head for heights and preferably a small pair of feet, come say ‘ni hao’ to the Chang Kong Cliff Road in China’s Shaanxi Province. It’s thousands of feet up Mt. Huashan and is popular among hikers of a steely disposition.

End it?

A man in an Arab country stands on a building ledge, contemplating committing suicide. Bystanders and emergency services wait below next to a safety inflatable intended to catch the man should he jump. Meanwhile, a lone firefighter aims a quick kick to the would-be jumper’s back, sending him on a plummet to safety below. A tragedy averted. Captured on CCTV.

Moonfall

“The more I see of deer, the more I admire them as mountaineers. They make their way into the heart of the roughest solitudes with smooth reserve of strength, through dense belts of brush and forest encumbered with fallen trees and boulder piles, across canons, roaring streams, and snow-fields, ever showing forth beauty and courage.” – John Muir
