Grenfell – one year on

Gifville honours the memory of the victims and survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire a year ago. This tragedy brought Londoners together and also was a stark reminder of the powers-that-be that put ordinary people last.

Vijay’s classic GIFs 2007-2011 – 328

If you’re a regular in Gifville, and you’re feeling a bit of deja vu seeing this GIF of a man stacking it on a treadmill, don’t fret. We featured a very similar GIF last year on the postMore treadmill disasters“.

I nearly suffered a similar mishap myself only a couple of weeks ago while at a gym in Ilford. No I wasn’t dancing on it, promise. It was caused by the distraction visited upon me by a falling hand towel. Seriously. Stop laughing.

Grenfell Tower tragedy

In the worst residential housing fire in living memory, Grenfell Tower, an apartment block in Kensington, London, was inundated with fire a few days ago. Already 17 people have lost their lives, and an entire community has rallied around to help those who have lost loved ones, homes and everything they have ever known.

Gifville and myself salutes the firefighters, emergency services, and community members who faced tragedy and death to rescue and aid Grenfell Tower residents. This shows how London always pulls together in the darkest hours.

If you wish to donate to those affected, please search “Grenfell Tower charity appeal” or similar in your web browser to find out ways you can help.

The shopping trip from hell

Just started my second week off work. Decided to go out for a haircut then a quick trip to the Tesco Express at the Greengate junction to do the weekly food shop. Once I got to the self-service till, all hell broke loose. First I discovered one item was split open , so had to run off to get a replacement. I came back to realise stupidly that I’d left my wallet on the till unattended. Whoops!. Then one of the shopping bags broke at the handle, so I had to buy a couple more, cos lots of shopping… Then the 50 pence piece I put into the machine jammed and the staff nearly forgot to give me the change from the bags. Thanks God I’m home now :/
