A Xmas festive edition GIF based on an infamous incident that occurred in Baghdad on the 14th December, 2008. Iraqi journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi threw both of his shoes at then-United States President George W. Bush, a grave insult in the Arab world. Bush was attending a press conference with Iraqi government officials at the time. Al-Zaidi was recorded as castigating the president of the US as a war criminal. The former president dodged the flight of both shoes, which narrowly missed then Iraqi PM, Nouri al-Maliki who was in attendance. The scene, caught on international TV, became a rich source of inspiration for many memes in the days after.

A character from the 1975 US film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest shakes his head in a fit of mental inebriation. Over a decade ago I was fortunate enough to see a live performance of this novel at the Garrick Theatre in central London.
