Fermi caught me smashing up neutron stars

 

On Aug. 17, the Gamma-ray Burst Monitor on NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope saw a short burst of gamma rays in a smashup of neutron stars, marking the first-ever detection of light from a gravitational wave source.
